About us | Our Team | Campus Ambassadors | Our Tutors | FAQs
Apollo Tutors is an emerging social enterprise, offering tutoring for K-12 classes, SAT/ACT college prep, and undergraduate courses. Our mission is to promote optimal learning for school, the workplace, and beyond.
Our tutors are scholars from diverse backgrounds who have shown mastery in their fields of study and have a passion for mentoring students.
We work with each student to identify areas of focus and set learning goals.
We strive to find the “right fit” of tutor, who is proficient in the subject area and shares similar learning styles with his or her students. Unlike the standard approach for tutoring, we use research-based analytics to offer a custom-tailored approach to tutoring.
We believe all students deserve the best possible education to pursue their desired careers! Through facilitating small groups of volunteer-based tutoring, we efficiently and effectively help support students in lower-income communities. We also follow a “big picture” perspective, facilitating volunteer projects in the community by working with a variety of community service partners!
Shameel graduated from Southern Methodist University and is an alumnus of Highland Park High School. He grew up in Highland Park, helping his parents with their small business, Swiss Cleaners. Shameel considered a career in management consulting but instead decided to pursue education, where he felt could make a more beneficial impact on the community.
Lauren graduated from SMU in 2019 with a BA in Business Management and has worked for Apollo since she was a freshman in college. Lauren loved connecting with students as a tutor for three years and now manages Apollo’s tutoring team, campus ambassadors, and marketing interns.
We pride ourselves in selecting premier tutors who stand out among their peers. Our tutors are proven scholars from diverse academic backgrounds, ranging from undergraduate students, graduate students, aspiring teachers, and working professionals looking for ways to engage younger peers.
Our tutors demonstrate academic excellence on all levels because of our selective recruitment process. We look for candidates with not only strong GPAs and standardized test scores, but we also require strong communication skills and an ability to build rapport. We look for tutors who can serve as mentors to students and promote lifelong learning.
We match our students with Apollo Tutors, who have similar academic interests and career aspirations. We also use the “True Color” test to identify similar learning and thinking styles.
Our tutors serve as mentors and advisers to kindle academic curiosity and promote lifelong learning.
